Support Grace in Haiti this Lent Again this year we are partnering with Grace Church, Amherst, during Lent, to support the mission of Saint Matthieu School in Bayonnais, Haiti. The elementary school in rural Haiti has 279 students from pre-school to 9th grade served by 19 staff members, and provides a safe haven for children in a country continually beset by social turmoil, food insecurity, and gang violence. To contribute to this mission as part of your Lenten practice, you can send a donation to the office (or use tithely), noting that it is for St. Matthieu, Haiti. To date we have raised $TBD. This week, March 9-14: March 9 at 6:00 p.m. - The Interfaith Council of Franklin County “Cultivating Connections” The Interfaith Council of Franklin County invites all for the program “Cultivating Connections” on Monday March 9 at 6:00 pm at the Second Congregational Church. Join the Interfaith Council as we build connections and community around our values and faiths to support each other. Share singing and signs of hope amidst heartbreak. What are you doing to build bridges and bring beloved community to our world? 6:00 pm for a potluck and 6:30 pm for the program of facilitated small group discussions. All are welcome. March 10 at 6 p.m. - Lectio Divina All are invited and welcomed to participate in Lectio Divina this Lent - offered on Tuesdays from 6-6:30 p.m. in our chapel (Mar 10, 17, 24). Lectio means “read,” and Lectio Divina is an ancient Christian practice that functions much like a form of Christian mindfulness or meditation. It helps us move from simply reading Scripture to listening for God within it. It’s not a Bible study, and it’s not about analyzing the text. Instead, it’s a slow, prayerful way of receiving Scripture with the heart. Those interested in participating are encouraged to let facilitators Elle Wildhagen ([email protected]) and Therese Fitzsimmons ([email protected]) know by emailing them, though walk ins are welcome at each gathering.
