Living Water - panel discussion

Join us on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. for Living Water: The Connecticut River, a panel discussion taking us into different perspectives on the River that is the defining feature of our region.

​The panel will be at The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew, 8 Church Street, Greenfield, at 12:30 p.m.
The panelists are:
Joe Graveline is of Cherokee and Abenaki descent. As a historical researcher and lecturer, he speaks to some of the unrepresented Native American history of our area. He worked with Frank Abbondanzio Town of Montague Administrator as a liaison to create the reconciliation agreement between the Town of Montague and the Narragansett Indian Tribe that presented a ceremony of healing on May 19, 2004, the 328th anniversary of the 1676 massacre on the bank of  the Connecticut River. He is a co-founder and past president of the Nolumbeka Project, and the founder of the first Peoples Harvest, the predecessor to the annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival gathering at the Great Falls, and long time board member of the National Park Service King Phillips War Battlefield Study Program of the attack at the Great Falls May 19, 1676.

The Reverend Doctor Harvey Hill is an Episcopalian priest who recently joined St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ashfield. He has taught religion courses at the college level while serving churches in Georgia and western Massachusetts. He has written on Christian modernism, a theological movement in the late 19th and early 20th century seeking to harmonize faith with science.

Chelsey Little is Superintendent and Pre-Treatment Coordinator of the Town of Montague’s Clean Water Facility. Her LinkedIn profile states: “I'm a biologist with a passion for teaching others about the fascinating processes that take place in wastewater treatment. I love helping people understand how science plays a vital role in keeping our communities healthy and sustainable.”
Melissa Langley is the Water Quality Program Manager at the Connecticut River Conservancy. She manages field, lab, and grant work for monitoring water quality in the River. She works with seasonal assistants and volunteers to gather bacteria, nutrient, conductivity/turbidity, and cyanobacteria data to help the Conservancy monitor water quality in the River.
This event is organized by the Green Team, a mission at The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew that takes the view that creation care is a universal human concern that goes beyond religious affiliation. We welcome everyone to our programs. Parking is available along Church Street and in the parking lot off Saints James Court. Bring a lunch if you like. There is a labyrinth next to the church and on a fine day there are tables and benches to enjoy.
