Dear People of Saints James and Andrew,
We want to fill you in on three important updates in the life of our church:
Coronavirus and Congregational Life
It is our practice to follow any guidelines set forth by the Bishop’s Office and the government. These are the best practices at this moment in time. Should they change, we will communicate those changes with you.
Deacon Ann Role Transition
We are blessed to have Deacon Ann assigned to serve our faith community; (all deacons are assigned to a parish by Bishop Doug). It was the intent that Deacon Ann would be assigned to our parish, and that when the time was right for her and the parish she would retire in place. While neither Deacon Ann nor the parish is ready for her retirement, Deacon Ann did feel ready to make a transition in her role. Deacon Ann has been serving 10 hours a week, and now she will serve 4 hours a week. (FYI, deacons are non-stipendiary). Deacon Ann will still lead the Pastoral Care and Healing Prayer Team, but she will serve on the altar less and will only preach one time a year. The clergy, wardens, and Bishop heartily support her in this decision, and remain grateful for her ongoing ministry.
Changes Resulting from Middle Somethings’ Church Chat
After the annual meeting, several Generation X/ Millenial (Middle Somethings) gathered at Erin Donnally Drake’s home to discuss their concerns and hopes. It was a very productive conversation, which has since been followed up by further conversations to refine ideas that emerged. Here are some new approaches we’re trying out :
